The Wayne County School System is now accepting applications for a Transition Coach position for the 2025–2026 school year. This is a 180-day, contract-based position primarily located at Wayne County High School, with possible assignments at other high schools within the county.

Transition Coach – Wayne County School System

Responsible educational support work focused on assisting students with disabilities in preparing for life after high school through teaching Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), coordination with families and staff, and facilitation of independent living and workplace readiness skills.

Job responsibilities require strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is essential. Duties include implementing group and individual Pre-ETS instruction, career exploration, job readiness, hygiene, grooming, and supporting students during Work-Based Learning experiences. Transition Coaches also assist in maintaining documentation, attending transition planning meetings, and liaising with Vocational Rehabilitation and community agencies.

Ideal candidates will have:

A high school diploma or equivalent (required)
At least one year of experience in teaching or providing services to individuals with disabilities (preferred, not required)
A willingness to obtain a bus driver’s license (preferred, not required)

Compensation will be aligned with the Wayne County School District paraprofessional salary schedule.
