We’re proud to share that Collinwood High School has been named one of just 27 TSSAA member schools selected as an A.F. Bridges Divisional Finalist for the 2024–2025 school year!
The A.F. Bridges Award is named in honor of A.F. Bridges, the first Executive Secretary of the TSSAA. His high ideals of ethics, integrity, sportsmanship, and citizenship are the four cornerstones on which the Athletic Association was built. These same ideals are the focus of the TSSAA’s “Just Do What’s Right” program, a message that Collinwood High School continues to embody through its athletes, coaches, and community.
Way to go, Trojans! Your commitment to character and sportsmanship makes Wayne County proud.
This month, we proudly celebrate the incredible principals who lead our schools each and every day. Their dedication, vision, and commitment to students, teachers, and families are at the heart of everything we do in Wayne County Schools.
Our principals set the tone for learning, foster strong school cultures, and ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. They balance countless responsibilities with grace, compassion, and a deep belief in the power of public education.
To our principals—we thank you for your leadership, your tireless efforts, and the countless ways you make a difference in the lives of our students and staff. Wayne County Schools is stronger because of you.
Happy Principals Month!

After the first 20 school days, Wayne County Schools is proud to share that our students are averaging 95% attendance! 👏
Thank you to our students, families, and staff for making attendance a priority—because every day in class matters. Let’s keep the momentum going all year long!

Congratulations to Wayne County High School for its Level 5 TVAAS Distinction and Achievement Composite.
This is a significant milestone in student growth and achievement for the 2024-2025 academic school year. The Tennessee Department of Education assigns 5 levels of distinction based on student growth. WCHS earned the highest level. Five levels of achievement also designate TCAP performance. WCHS earned the highest in this measure, as well.

“You know what? Shut it down. Everyone deserves Monday off.”
The calendar calls it Labor Day, but we’re calling it a victory lap.
We will welcome everyone back on Tuesday, September 2!
