Mrs. Abernathy has served as assistant principal at Collinwood High School for the past four years, where she has demonstrated strong leadership, a commitment to student success, and a deep connection to the school community.

Collinwood schools will be OPEN and operating on a normal schedule tomorrow (January 22). Huge thanks to our maintenance and cafeteria crews for working hard to address the sprinkler line damage so our buildings are ready to welcome students back.

Applications are available online at www.waynetn.net or at the Wayne County Board of Education Central Office. Completed applications should be submitted to the Director’s Office by November 13, 2025, or until the position is filled.
Teachers within the school system may submit a request for transfer.

The Preschool Access for All Learning Network (P-AALN) and the Tennessee Department of Education invite community partners and childcare providers to a free, 3-hour regional training on building high-quality preschool environments that support the meaningful inclusion of children with disabilities.
This interactive session will highlight developmentally appropriate practices and practical strategies related to:
High-quality inclusive environments
Classroom design and arrangement
Developmentally appropriate schedules
Expectations and routines
Instructional supports for all learners
Participants will receive a professional development certificate upon completion.

Audience: Community childcare partners across Tennessee (e.g., Head Starts, community programs, private childcares, and others)
